Present in a multitude of treatments for the body and the face, this active is known for its restorative and nourishing virtues. Discover the secrets of its composition and our advice to use it well at home.

The cold cream is a descendant of the Galician cerate, a treatment invented in the second century by the Greek physician Claude Galien whose formula consisted of a mixture of olive oil, beeswax and water infused with aromatic plants.

This 'cold cream' left a very refreshing sensation on the skin. According to legend, it was used by the Romans to counter the irritation of mercury contained in makeup products.

In the
20th century, its formula goes from three to six ingredients with: sweet almond oil, whale-white, beeswax, rose-distilled water, volatile rose oil and benzoin tincture.

Today, cold cream is used in many cosmetic treatments for its restorative, nourishing and protective virtues. Its composition differs by brand, but it usually contains sweet almond oil, beeswax and rose water.

How to use
Pure cold cream can be used to repair an ultra-dry area. Very thick and rich, its nourishing texture forms a protective film that helps the skin to fight against external aggressions.

A moisturizing care based on cold cream will be perfect for dry and very dry skin. Applied in the morning and evening, on cleansed and cleansed skin, it will have a soothing and plumping effect. Protected against external aggressions, the skin will be less prone to redness and small irritations.
